About the event

In 1970, the average life expectancy in the U.S. was 71 years; today, it’s 79. Much of this advancement is thanks to improved medical technology, which has been heralded as a great achievement of our time. Already, futurists have predicted that technology will one day make us immortal. But as anyone who has watched the often challenging process of aging through a loved one knows, a longer life is not necessarily a higher quality life. But how to improve the lives of the dying is a harder question - should we ration care in futile treatments? Is doctor-assisted suicide ethical? If we do find a way to make ourselves immortal, how would that affect the quality of our lives?
