About the event
Shaukat Initiative is starting to recruit student instructors for the spring semester. SI aims to provide free supplemental education to the children of USC staff. As a part of this organization volunteers will engage with students to determine a subject matter of their interest. Volunteers will then proceed to design their own course, and teach students via Socratic method. The SI team intends to provide a variety of of options for interested students, with courses ranging from the science to humanities, performance arts to college prep.
The Shaukat Initiative (SI), started by former Levan Fellow Mazen Loan, is a student-driven organization inspired by a similar program in the outskirts of Lahore, Pakistan. It was conceived from a desire to cater to an often under-appreciated cohort of the Trojan family. The aim of this project is to provide a platform where children of USC staff members and USC students can come together and explore disciplines that pique their intellectual interests. Moreover, we want to use this as an opportunity for us to strengthen the bonds within the Trojan family. We aim to provide completely free supplemental education to USC staff children. The classes will range from STEM to humanities and foreign languages, with a focus on the ethics and humanities behind each subject under the mission of the Levan Institute for Humanities and Ethics. We sincerely believe that USC staff and their children are part of our Trojan family.
If you are interested in joining SI as an instructor please submit your application.
